A successful design that came into service with the Royal Navy in the early 1980s. Sea Skua began life as the CL.834 and is a helicopter-borne missile intended for use against small ships, with attacks on fast patrol craft a speciality. Used successfully in the Falklands and Gulf Wars, Sea Skua is normally mounted in pairs on Royal Navy Lynx helicopters.
Sea Skua is powered by a Matapan solid rocket sustainer, which gives it a range of 9 miles.
The example here is on display at the Aerospace Museum at RAF Cosford.
