Intended to replace the Skyflash in RAF service, the S225X led to BVRAAM, a long-range active-seeking ramjet-powered AAM by BAE Systems and Matra. Intended for Typhoon, Gripen and Rafale.
This project ultimately led to Meteor, a long range ramjet powered active homing AAM developed by MDBA
