Orange Yeoman radar

Orange Yeoman was the AMES Type 82 tactical control radar. Originally designed by Associated Electrical Industries, AEI was taken over by Marconi in 1967.

Orange Yeoman was intended to control the Bristol Bloodhound SAMs that the RAF had acquired for air defence. It had a peak power of 1.5MW and operated at 3Ghz.

Orange Yeoman formed the basis of the Blue Yeoman Type 85 radar that was essentially Blue Riband transmitter with an Orange Yeoman aerial.

Used on Bloodhound Mk1 system. Installed at North Coates, Watton, Lindholme and North Luffenham.
