Blue Streak, Blue Steel and Polaris missiles as displayed in the Museum of Flight at East Fortune.Blue Steel formed the offensive weapon of the V-Force, providing the deterrent against the Soviet bloc from 1961 until 1969. After 1969 Polaris provided deterrence in its A3TK Chevaline upgrade variant. In the background is Blue Streak, the UK's land based MRBM, which was to provide the UK deterrent from the early 1960s. Blue Streak was cancelled as a weapon in 1960.
